Many times the area you feel an ache or pain may not be the issue. It could be referred pain from a outlying trigger point. A trigger point is a hypertonic area in a muscle that when active can refer pain to other areas of the body. Treating the trigger point can eliminate the referred pain.

I often hear my clients say, "I didn't know I was sore their until you started working on that area". The reason is that that area is now being challenged and stretched. As you notice your shoulders raising, Just take a moment to breathe and consciously relax them down.....The more you notice and do this practice, the more you break this pattern.
When getting a massage, does your therapist really listen to you and your body or do they have a standard routine that they do? Each session should be different and unique depending on what is going on in your body at the moment.
